it指代的倾向性疑问

我选对了，可是有个疑问。 一般代词指代不是不倾向于指代介词短语中的名词么？？这里it指代的是in a strong cloth bag中的 strong cloth bag。违背了原则啊。

求指点！！

by placing the dirty laundry in a strong cloth bag,. tossing it overboard, and letting the ship drag the bag for hours个人认为it指代的是the dirty laundry，原因有3，首先根据平行+代词指代的倾向性，placing与tossing平行，it优先指代placing的宾语，也就是laundry，其次，如果如你所说it指代bag，那为什么后文不用drag it更为简洁，而是用drag bag又重复了bag呢》》最后就是你所说，bag位于介宾短语中，不倾向于这样的指代。
