In an effort to improve our employees' productivity, we should implement electronic monitoring of employees' Internet use from their workstations. Employees who use the Internet from their workstations need to be identified and punished if we are to reduce the number of work hours spent on personal or recreational activities, such as shopping or playing games. By installing software to detect employees' Internet use on company computers, we can prevent employees from wasting time, foster a better work ethic at Climpson, and improve our overall profits."
Write a response in which you examine the stated and/or unstated assumptions of the argument. Be sure to explain how the argument depends on these assumptions and what the implications are for the argument if the assumptions prove unwarranted.

The author recommends that the company should install software to monitor employees' Internet use and punish those who entertain when working. Then he assumes this policy would increase overall profits, foster a work ethic and keep them from wasting time. His conclusion seems not to be as sound as it is at first glance after further reflection. Some evidences are needed.

To begin with, the author fails to show me some evidences about whether this policy is feasible. It is very likely that some possibilities would obstruct the installing. For example, maybe this policy goes against with the local law and thus it would bring a lawsuit to this company after implementing this monitoring system. Additionally, perhaps those employees are reluctant to be monitored. If so, a great number of them may feel abhorrent about this and thus resign. The author could not convince me the feasibility without provide those evidences.

What's more, even though implementing the monitoring is feasible, the claim that this would prevent employees from wasting time is not evident. Firstly, there is no evidence that this software is effective and accurate enough. Perhaps it could not distinguish working and entertainment. For example, how could this monitor know whether the employee is chatting with consumers or just with their friends through the internet. Secondly, even though employees would not do some recreation though the internet, the author also has to convince me that they would not playing games through their mobile phone as a substitution. Besides, evidence that they may keep a high working effectiveness instead of doing nothing just facing the computer is necessary. Without those evidences, the conclusion that it could prevent employees from wasting time is unreasonable.

Furthermore, the author also claims that this policy would improve their overall profits and form a better work ethic. However, he does not give me proof that this benefits coming from the employee would overweigh the cost of installing this software. Besides, could this measure increase their ethic? There is no evidence. Perhaps, the work ethic of employees would decrease for that surveillance is not an ethical thing which would have a bad impact on those employees.

In conclusion, the author could not substantiate his recommendation that the company should implement monitoring software with just those unsound claims. To make his argument more convincing, he should provide evidences that this policy is legal and would not bring reluctance. Besides, relationship between benefits and the cost have to be considered. Also, he had better show me the high recognition degree and effectiveness of this software. With those evidences, this argument would be more justifiable and logical acceptable.(439,35min)

1.instruction中提到需要你分析下assumption的,而不是evidence。
2.第二段中你写了两点,两点都是一句话,这是不够具体的。
3.LZ可以把自己分析的过程尽量写出来
