诚然，一些明显对人类有贡献的研究领域应该被鼓励科研项目一个重要的判断指标是它的实用性一个科研活动可能需要大量人力财力的参与如果它无法为人类带来较大的收益 那么科研活动降无法 获得人们的支持 这个科研项目也可能就此走向死亡
但是科研活动的实用性作为其价值的唯一判断标准将会产生很多问题
首先这个标准基本无法实施因为这个建议的前提是科研人员必须知道自己的研究能给社会带来多大的收益能够惠及多少人 但是这很难 对于一些冷门学科 如哲学 以及一些前沿学科 这基本不能做到
如果实施题目中的建议会有一些弊端 人类的研究领域范围将会缩小 因为很多领域无法说清楚他们究竟能惠及多少人 人类最初研究的原动力是好奇心 而好奇心应该是没有限制的 导致大量科学家放弃他们原来的项目 人类的认知能力下降 没有了好奇心就没有了询问 也就不再有知识
有一个这种的方法首先一个国家应该鼓励任何方向的科研活动除非这些活动会危害人类的安全如生化武器 动摇现有的伦理道德 如克隆 对那些能惠及大多数人的科研项目 政府要给予支持 并鼓励民间资助

Thepracticable of this advice is highly unlikely. It is too difficult forresearchers to foresee the income of their major projects. And the scope ofstudy will be limited if take this suggestion.
Trulywe should encourage the studied project that they will be beneficial to the majorityof people obviously. The judgment standard of a scientific research is theprofit of the scientific program. The more practicable the program is the moresupport the program will get. A scientific research needs a large amount of moneyand manpower and so on to sustain. Then people may do not support a scientificresearch that it will not bring about abundant gains. Ultimately, thescientific research more or less load to the end.
But it willbring a great deal of problem if take the practicality of a scientific researchthe only first criteria. First the criteria will be difficult to apply because thepremise of the suggestion is that the researcher should foreknow how manypeople the research will be beneficial to. This is the foundation but this is animpossible foundation to reach. Especially for some unpopular disciplines or somefrontier disciplines, which may not make earnings now, but they will let peopleget benefit in a long time without be aware or will get to utilize in the future.
Therewill be some corrupt practices if the suggestion was adopted. The research areawill be reduced because the vista of lots of researches is noncommittal. Researchersalso have no way to know whether they will make many people benefit from theirresearch. As we known the curiosity is the motive power for people to explorethe unknown issue. Then the curiosity should never be limited. The creativeability will lose without curiosity. It is a pity that many ingenious inventionswill never be appeared. Their disappear because the research give up theirresearch. They are encouraged to probe the profitable field. The query willdecrease without curiosity. Then the acknowledge of the people will decline. Ultimatelyknowledge may uneasy to be updated.
Sowe should come up with a comprise method to solve the contradiction. First astate should encourage research to engage any scientific field. Surely thefield will never bring identified hazards for human such as chemical andbiological weapons. And they should not shake the existed moral. Secondly governmentshould provide a lot of financial support studied project which will be beneficialto public and encourage public to do so. |
