1、请问B项中的what的用法怎么理解？
2、看到OG中的解释，似乎E的错误只是now的位置错了。如果E项改为“when great ice sheets existed in areas that are now temperate"，正确吗？

what是宾语从句；E选项按你说的那样改的话应该没错。

感觉B 的what宾语从句好别扭自己不知道如何恰当表达但是感觉读不通

另外作者说的E 改成that 那不就是 areas that are XX temperature了地区和温度对应。
