求一道逻辑题的分析。。preptest37

company president: grievance procedures should allow the grievant and the respondent to select a mediator who will  attempt to work out a resolution. Grievances are costly and meidation could help to resolve many of them. However, beginning meidation fairly late in the process, as our human resources department proposes, would be relatively ineffective.

Which one of the following, if true, most helps to justify the company president's critism of the human resources department's proposal?

A. People whol file grievances are unreasonable and would resist listening to a meidator?

B. Many disagreements are already being solved without the intervention of a meidator.

C. Advisaries' positions tend to harden as a dispute wears on, making compromise less likely.

D. Respondents tend to be supervisors who cannot give in to employees without losing authority.

E. The meidation process itself is likely to cost as much in time and money as the present grienvance procedures.

看了文章之后没有思路,然后感觉选项都不太对。。。求分析。

可能是几个术语LZ不大熟悉吧,大意是说申诉人(grievant)和应诉人(respondent)在争端解决过程中选择调解员(mediator)加入来帮助解决纠纷,可以减少不满情绪。但是HR认为mediator要晚点加入,CP不同意,认为那样效果不好。问:那个选项支持CP观点。

A. 申诉人会拒绝听mediator的——>无论何时加入都于事无补啦
B. 很多争端就算木有mediator也老早解决了嘛——>mediator貌似有没有也不一定差很多
C. 随着争端的推进,对立的立场也加强,妥协变得更困难——>mediator还是趁早加入为好
D. 应诉人可能是supervisor,不会很有失权威的向员工妥协——>mediator加入早或晚也没办法改变这点
E. 调解程序本身消耗的时间金钱和现有程序差不多——>就cost和time角度似乎mediator的加入也没多大改善

所以我选C

这道题的关键是要明白 Company president 和 HR的意见分歧重点在于“beginning mediation fairly LATE”, 所以当你看到问题问哪个justify CP‘s criticism, 就要找哪个答案解释晚开始(late)为什么不好。

A: 跟早晚没关系
B: 跟早晚没关系
D: 跟早晚没关系
E: 跟早晚没关系

只有答案C符合: “as a dispute wears on”--> "compromise less likely"

只要抓住了分歧的重点,即使你不知道什么是grievance procedure 也可以找出正确答案
