这个题目,感觉自己写的思路狭窄且不清晰,逻辑有问题,希望大家多多批评指正!!! 题目:Competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all levels of education. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
The issue has its reasons, but is neither insightful nor thorough/comprehensive. That is, we never doubt that in a number of cases, dull boys get excellent grades in modern society, but we are suspicious that whether such a seeming paradoxical phenomenon rests on 'pursuit of high scores'. And we distrust, further, whether it will impose restrictions on all levels of students. In order to objectively treat the issue, we should consider it from both its pros and cons. It is true that, as a long-standing testing method, the score system of course has its rationality. For the candidates,is understanding required knowledge the single element to success in exams? Surely not! Without stable and good psychological quality, none can do well in getting high marks. And only the students treating the studying process seriously and facing the fierce competition calmly can get excellent scores. On the other hand, with the comparison with others' marks, students can be stimulated to try harder and restrain themselves on the studying road with more determination. Thus, as you can see it, score system can help both learning knowledge, as well as setting up prominent psychological quality. However, we cannot commit mistakes in an absolute and automatically condition for regardless of so many high score-low ability instances. And, out of question there must be some serious problems in the implemention of score system.
Actually, for the score system itself, there isn't right or wrong, but there is problems in concrete ways to use it. As the reason, stiff pursuit of 'standard key' is a determining factor. As test judgers, they examine papers according to similar degrees between standard keys and candidates’ answers. For teachers, the main goal in daily education activities lies on leading students to answer the questions more similarly with the key. And for students, more and more, they think the learning determination is getting a high mark, rarely considering pursuit of the truth, the good and the beautiful. Hence, that is a tragedy and failure of the education. And it's the attitude to the so-called 'standard keys' that results in the educational bog. As the result, both the nation and the society are influenced adversely by misuse of score system. It is absolutely conceivable that students are intended to imitate the mode of thinking in the standard keys, by being continually strengthen their thinking in a fixed pattern, students tends to avoid pondering problems with their own ability, thereby resulting the lack of creativity and critical spirit. In this way, even there isn't composition without template, there isn't math solving method without fixed ideas, there isn't different thinking models between different individuals. Then our education only bring up such talents who can not meet the needs of the times the society, but are suitable for high fixed exams. Maybe from this angel, you can speculate the reason why such a surprising phenomenon exist that there are bosses complaining lack of qualified jot candidates and a mass of graduated students complaining about unemployment. Just for the unreasonable use of scores style. However, where there is a problem there is a way. I recommend to adopt the combination of letter score system and teachers' written comments. With the help of letter score system, instead accurate scores with a obscured level represented by letter, students will abandon overly pursuit to extremely similar keys, and get the space to develop their own thoughts. With the written comments together, there appears a kind of communication by which students can obtain concrete suggestion to their learning process. Thus, creativity can be developed, as well as maintaining the calculating students' level, the prime goal of score system. Now we know what the matter is :it is not the score system itself-but the abuse of it-that is the problem. And we know what can be done, with the letter system, as well as teachers' personal comments. |
