According to the statement, the speaker assert thatsince the last 50 years witness the great change in the world, the grandparents' advice has no value. I fundamentally agree insofar that the current world has a distinctive difference compare to the world 50 years ago. However, their advice is still worth to listen in terms of the unchangeable human nature and the wisdom they included.

Through mobile phone, we can keep in touch with our friends no matter how faraway they are. Through Internet, we could keep abreast with the current situation anytime and anywhere. Through computer, we can even take a whole library in our hand. Technology changes the environment around us, and finally, changes the way we live. The world's change is so much that even the young generation are dazzled, not mention theold generation like our grandparents.
Nevertheless, it is not to say that advices fromoldis useless. Although the world change its face, the essential part , human nature, has alteration little. A proper example is not very far to seek. It is obvious that all of us love to get something for nothing. In business area, a production with a free sample is always enjoy more preference from customers than one hasn't a free gift. Specifically, in a supermarket when somebody is hesitates between two brands of cookie, she or he will more likely to choose the one with a little free gift such as a toy for children. Another talkative example is women in the period of sale. There is no surprised that they will purchase everything no matter need or non-needed as much as they can afford. In this context, the suggestions from our grandparents such as: 'never buy things especially expensive one immediately, clam down and wait for a week then you can make a wise decision.’ is always works.
When turning our attention to ourselves. There is no more ridiculous than disagree with all the suggestions from grandparents just because the idea that they are out of date. An experience of my close friend has just prove the statement. There was a time that he was really revolting and didn't trust anything from his parents or grandparents. When he went into university, he chooses the major field which sound cool instead of the field which his parents and grandparents advised. He could not change it when he realized it does not suit for him. As a result, he losses his interest in study and just plays online game everyday. Four years later, when he graduates from university, he finds that almost no company want to employ him, and he has to take a job with any connection with his major in college and ill paid. It couldn't deny that choose a field you want is important, however, we also should not ignore the other aspect of problems which our parents and grandparents often think for us. After all, our experience is not enough to face every choose we meet, in many important moments we should hear the voice from the older one, who is more thoughtful and clam to make a sensible decision.
Actually, the crucial criterion we used when decide whether a suggestion is valuable is the suggestion itself, not who offer it. Has it consider all aspects of the issue? Is it suit for the situation we faced? Whether or not there exist an alternative way to resolve the problem easily? With the time pass by, not only the world changed, but also bring wisdom. Listen grandparents' advice carefully, you will find them shining with the light of wisdom. |
