haha sunsun ni de zhuan ye shi shen me ya? I am also studying in upstate NY. Remember that big 4 in rochester and buffalo area, each firm only hires 2 to 3 people every year, but they are going to 5 schools, which are UB, SUNY Geneseo, U of R, St John Fisher, and Hobarts, to recruite students. It means that Big4, in total, they only hires min 10 to max 20 people every year, but each firm interviews at least 80 people(first round interview) in order to hire 2 to 3 people. Can you imagine how competitive it is? Also, Kodak, one of the biggest client of PWC, is officially gone. A lot of students studying in upstate NY, they want to work in Upstate new york, not in NYC because they want to live in their hometown. They already have a good connection with local firms than internationals do. If you really want to work in NYC, they can refer you to NYC office just in case that recruiter thinks you are super talented candidates. Before you decide to go to U of R, call U of R office and ask contacts of a couple of Chinese students in MSA of U of R. Ask them directly how their job huntings are going. As far as I know, there are only 8 american students out of 22 MSA, and the rest of students are basically Chinese. One is from Korea. None of international Chinese people in MSA of U or R got the job yet. That means they will not get the job in big 4 since all the big 4's recruites are done by November. Most of American kids in MSA already got the offer from Big 4 when they were in undergrad, and U of R gave them at least 50% of scholarships.
If you are in mainland, your English should be not enough to pass the interview. The best way is going to SUNY Bing, Pace or Fordham. If I were you, I will go to Fordhams's MS in Taxation. Fordham is well known school for law as well as tax. If you study in fordham and study taxation, you will have an opportunity. It is Ghetto's town around U of R. Not a good environment to live. I have been there numerous times.
Ranking is not that important to get a job in big4s as long as you go to state schools or any qualified schools in a region you want to work. Go to feeder school of big 4.
U of R is not a nationally recognized school. It is famous in NY state. |
