1. What is the Macc class size and how is the diversity of the student's body? I looked for class profile on the program website but found no information in this aspect. The average class size is about 28 students. We do not keep class profiles on our students, but I would say that we have a good mix of male, female, domestic and international students.2. Can this 12-month program be extended to a longer one? To better gain practical experience in the accounting profession, I would very much like to find internships during my stay in the U.S. That way I can better combine what I learn from the class with practical working experience. The 12-month time frame is an average for students. Depending on your visa status, and your actual schedule (which you will work out with your academic advisor), you may be able to extend that a bit. The program certainly facilitates internships for eligible students.
3. How are the placement rates of your Macc program and internship/work opportunities (Accounting) in the city of San Diego? We do not publish placement rates, but most of our students are able to find jobs upon graduation. Internship opportunities are also available.
4. Can international students apply for scholarships or assistantships (TA/RA) at USD? International students are eligible for assistantships, once they are in the program. Students may apply for a maximum of two during their MACC/MTAX studies. Each assistantship is valued at $3000. For that award students must work 60 hours for the semester for a faculty member, either assisting with grading or with research . The application process for those assistantships takes place in March and October for the fall and spring semesters, respectively.
