105) Claim: Imagination is a more valuable asset than experience. Reason: People who lack experience are free to imagine what is possible without the constraints of established habits and attitudes. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based.
Given that people who lack experience are free to imagination what is possible without the constraints of established habits and attitudes, the issue concerning that imagination is a more valuable asset than experience to some extent is reasonable, however, experience as a gain that summarized by forerunners has its unique value that could not be replaced.
A famous scientist once said, "imagination is more important than experience since experience is limited, while imagination includes everything in the world, motivating to make progress and is the source of knowledge evolution which is beneficial for seeking more experience." Imagination is a mind activity that is not limited by any constraints of rules or established habits and attitudes. Through imagination, people can break through, remove obstacles and across time and space.
If limited by the rule that people cannot fly in the sky and without imagination, Wright Brothers could not have a thought to fly like birds, nor would they invent the airplane which has such a profound effect that has been an important part of transportation even in the future. The same ting can be said of Newton's discovery of gravity. If like most of people, being limited by the experience at that time, without imagination, he could not put a new thesis concerning the gravity after smashed by an apple from an apple tree.
From this aspect above, there is no doubt that imagination is really a valuable asset. However, whether it is more valuable than experience should be considered carefully. It is true that people lack experience may be more creative to imagine anything seems impossible since they can only consider what they desire to get without thinking over whether it can be realized. However, is it meaningful that imagining something that without basis of possibility to realize? It is questionable. Although as the development of times, it seems that nothing is impossible via advanced technology, there still some problems that people cannot slove even in the long run looking since when we feel our human beings are great, at the same time we should know we are only human beings whose ability is potential but limited.
In fact, experience as a gain that summarized by numerous forerunners has its special function which can be a basis for people to have an appropriate imagination and a support to realize the imagination. Based on the experience about mechanical assembly, after Wright Brothers imaging to fly in the sky, they invented the first airplane that realized people's dream to fly like birds. When it comes to Newton's new thesis, he himself once said, "I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants." Thus we can see that without those precious experience, maybe Newton could not have such a great achievement.
In conclusion, it cannot be denied that imagination is a valuable asset, however, experience which can be a basis for imagination isn't necessarily less valuable asset than imagination. It is necessary to imagine based on experience and making full use of experience. |
