105 Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.
This year is the last one of my high school life. As I am preparing to apply for universities, I have heard many arguments about whether students should live in university dormitories or in apartments in the community. After pondering this issue on many occasions, I finally reached the opinion that living in dormitories is more desirable than living in apartments. In this article, I will further explore a few of my reasons.
The first reason that came to my mind is that living in university dormitories is very convenient. Students do not need extra time to get to campus. Undoubtedly, their time can be saved for other meaningful purposes. For example, a friend of mine is currently studying at University of Toronto. Though the majority of her friends chose to live off campus in their first year, she did not follow suit. Instead, she chose to live in dormitories and found herself often more relaxed and happier than her friends owing to the housing difference. Her friends often had to spend hours getting to campus, whereas she only needed minutes. It is no doubt that she can enjoy her life with more fun.
Another reason that cannot be ignored is that living in dormitories is superior to living in apartments in terms of safety and security. Compared with apartments, which are often surrounded with various buildings, in which the identities of the people cannot be determined, dormitories are often located inside the campus, which is usually under the inspection of security guards, thus increasing the safety coefficient significantly. Obviously, university dormitories indeed provide a safer and more secure environment for students.
Beyond these obvious points, there lies an in-depth reason that students can make more friends when living in dormitories. On the one hand, many students at different years, such as freshman, junior and senior, choose to live in dormitories. One can make a lot of friends with different interests, majors, or even personalities. On the other hand, students often share an apartment with their close friends. This practice may ultimately prevent them from getting to know more people since they are with their best friends most of the time. Both of these present that students can benefit a lot if they choose to live in dormitories.
To sum up, based on the three previous reasons, living in university dormitories is convenient and safe. Meanwhile, students can make a lot of friends. Apparently, it is superior to living in apartments in the community. As a result, I strongly suggest students who are graduating from high school choose university dormitories as their housing preference. |
