People should be paid by their profession beneficial to the society
Whether people should be paid by their profession beneficial to the society is a very complex issue. In my view, the speaker’s conclusion is overly simplistic, since there have hardly been any a certain answer for this question, and the speaker unnecessarily extends his broad assertion to an extreme. My points of acceptance and contention with the speaker, on the whole, are involved in the basic and deep discussion as follows.
First of all, I agree with the speaker up to the point that most people should be paid by their profession beneficial to the society in consideration of social wealth distribution theory. People earn from work based on their professional contribution to society, which is easier to be quantified under the social organizational structure. Both common sense and our experiences in our daily life inform us that people with a higher profession level normally possess a higher salary and social status. For instance, a senior marketing manager normally can make more professional contribution to a company than a junior marketing manager can. Correspondingly the company will pay more to the senior marketing manager based on the market driven pricing index formed in the society. In these situations, therefore, it is partially indisputable that profession beneficial to the society is a very important evaluation criterion to the pay schedule of society. In addition, I have to point out that the speaker’s contention amounts to an overstatement and fails to take into account other essential factors. The most compelling argument I find is that there are many types of contributions to the society besides the professional contribution. One only need to look at lottery industry, if you are the lucky dog win the biggest prize of lottery you can get a great of money exceed much more than the salary get from profession contribution. It is a minority event but truly reflects that there exists a paying method different from profession determination and that it is a suitable method for the lottery industry. Besides the special example of lottery industry I would like to point out that there are also many others standards for social paying such as scholarship, allowance, social relief fund and others.
To sum up, by taking into account all these aspects discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that people could be paid by their professional contribution to the society, but it is not the only theory validated in the modern society, there are various kinds of paying theories linked with the different business and society models. Nowadays more and more people share this belief.

My points of acceptance and contention with the speaker, on the whole, are involved in the basic and deep discussion as follows.
First of all, I agree with the speaker up to the point that most people should be paid by their profession beneficial to the society in consideration of social wealth distribution principle. People earn from work based on their professional contribution to society, during which their work and contribution are quantified and recognized by the social organizational structure. Both common sense and our experiences in our daily life inform us that people with a higher profession level normally is offered a higher salary and social status. For instance, a senior marketing manager normally can make more professional contribution to a company than a junior marketing manager due to its experience, knowledge and capability, correspondingly the company will pay more to the senior marketing manager based on the market driven pricing index formed in the society. In these situations, therefore, it is partially indisputable that profession beneficial to the society is a very important evaluation criterion to the pay schedule of society. In addition, I have to point out that the speaker’s contention amounts to an overstatement and fails to take into account other essential factors. Besides the special example of lottery industry I would like to point out that there are also others standards for social paying such as scholarship, allowance, social relief fund and others.
Finally, it is probably true that in certain conditions people are paid by their lucks or needs……. Nonetheless, this alone does not constitute a sufficient support to claim that people will not be paid by their professional contribution. As a matter of fact, these cases are not common and hence too weak to strengthen this conclusion. When its advantages and disadvantages and are carefully examined, the more striking conclusion is apparent that………. people should be paid by their professional contribution.
To sum up, by taking into account all these aspects discussed above, we may safely arrive at the conclusion that people should be paid by their professional contribution to the society, although luck and needs also could be paid some times. nowadays more and more people share this belief. |
