这题我记得以前讨论过,不过现在找了好久找不到了.

答案选E,可我觉得E实在不并列呀.A错在什么地方呢?

E中的symptomatic是不是应该改为a symptom?

首先，我认为A的平行结构有歧异的可能，且that的修饰对象不明确，是A的两个致命错误；

至于E，我刚查了longman，be symptomatic of是固定搭配。的确我在3楼有过困惑，但是，现在看来，对于平行结构，至少我们还是可能作出解释，那就是an illness or a physical condition和symptomatic of 都是作表语，从语法结构上也算平行。

我感觉A中不会产生歧义的可能。may simply be A ,B or C. 而A,B,C中都是名词+介词+名词的结构:a reaction to certain medications, anxiety about travel, stress before a job interview. 不可能也不应该被理解成a reaction to A, B. or C吧？

我感觉A要错，大概就只能错在that从句的修饰可能歧义，可能修饰problem,也可能修饰symptom,还有就是我不是很确定有没有not A so much as B的说法。

而tianwan GG在那个link中说到的

"A的问题1是that不知道修饰problem或中心词symptom，2是如果修饰problem意思错，3是限制性修饰不恰当。”

我就不理解了。我觉得这里逻辑上 that...就该是修饰problem的。这没什么问题呀。

The structure of "not so much......", I think, must be completed by 'as', and only from this point, only A can be right. (parallel and idiomatic)

Have you seen the usage like "not so much.....but.... ? If anybody can prove this usage to be right, maybe we can consider the choices C,Dand E.
