我觉得这题如果选A的话，如tianwan GG所说的，those 代children,那么还原后的句子就是more children had mothers who were employed than those who had not mothers who were employed.  可是当have 做实意动词,表"有"的时候,否定形式应该是do not have sth. 而不是have not sth..而且我觉得这里not 修饰mother不如修饰employed好.

这题我选C.

but D is a little bit wordy like"  mothers who were employed".It should be " employed mother", right? I prefer C.

Why D is the right answer?

confused.

more children than not表意不清呀，而且employed 完全可以前置，用who be employed是wordy。

还是觉得C对，但不知道能不能省略得如此干净，就than not了事。
