关于OF介词的问题请教

刚才做PREP有个疑问，
the rate of 这个介词后面是不是只能包括最近的一个名词啊，就是说the rate of the food consumed by...就是只能认作food的rate,而不能包括后面的限定？
求指教

包括也是错的哈，包括限定之后不还是food吗？因为后面的相当于一个形容词，既然是food那么讲 rate of food就是错的哈

我的意思恰恰是说你应该理解意思哈
形容词只是一个限定作用，无论修饰哪个名词，比如举例，一头猪（我的那头）
你无论怎么修饰，它都是猪，你可以说无与伦比的猪，可是再无与伦比，都是猪哈
这里也是这个意思哈， food后面再修饰也是“。。。的food”这样 the rate of food done，你从意思上根本也是解释不通的哈，结构是为意思服务的哈，我可不敢让你不理解意思光看结构，后果我可承担不起

The word "rate" has two meanings.

1. number: the number of times something happens

2. speed: the speed at which something happens

Before you apply "a rate of X", make sure that X CAN HAPPEN

You cannot say "a rate of food" since food itself is not an event and thus cannot happen.

Speed and Rate differ:

We say——

the speed of light
the speed of a plane
the speed of a car

the rate of motion
the rate of economic growth

We SELDOM say——

the rate of light
the rate of a plane
the rate of a car
