Skype Interview. Just wondering, I read a person who has a 3.8 gpa with a gmat of 760 was wait-listed as well, He stated that he is not currently working, which is a major no no for the admissions. Both him and I are located in the States are recently laid off due to the economy downturn on wall street. My gmat is 700+ with 3+ years of hedge fund and IB experience, fluent in Chinese.

Does anyone share the same experience? I certainly believe that unemployed is a major reason for me to be put on the shortlist.

Are your friend and you are ABC or native Chinese?

not exactly. i'm 5 years hedge fund P/M. currently unemployed too. and a much lower GMAT score compared with you two. But i'm admitted. It depends on your overal evaluation, especially whether you have a thorough understanding of yourself and your goal.

我目前状态也是离职，G700，GPA 3.5，w/e 4年，其中海外工作两年多（新加坡），不过是在industr。

个人感觉被wait-list跟离职还是有关系的，我的意思是，如果我在职，结果也许会不一样，但并不是说目前没在工作的申请人都会被reject，而是同等或差别不大的情况下，学校可能会选在工作的。

个人觉得离职与否跟你面试官的喜好有关，不同的面试官，效果是有可能不同的。

为何我还是没收到通知呢？

Not abc, Chinese. Just this PC has no Chinese language pack.

I should correct my statement from before. No job certainly is not a death sentence, however it definitely have a negative impact on your overall application. Personally for me, I know aside from being employed, I felt that my interview was rather weak as I fail to demonstrate how much I wanted it. So yeah, lets hope everything works out for US on the short list....

The ones who got in are definitely well deserved and have a strong overall packages. Congrats.

总之恭喜所有拿了offer的朋友吧。

我打算还是先找个工作做，免得每天等的心烦意乱，后面还有好几个学校，也许会苦尽甘来呢，呵呵
