The speaker asserts that the successful energy conservation requires all individual nations to form a united organization within the international scope. In my point of view, international coordination and cooperation play an indispensable part in energy as this problem only can be solved by international efforts. Without such an international organization, the individual nations will act selfishly to achieve their short-sighted goals.
The reason why we need the international efforts to conserve energy is that only a united organization within the international scope has the authority to set up the clear and detailed plan standards for the energy conservation and a clear responsibility distribution among the emerging and industrialized countries. In the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Summit, all individual nations got together and reached an agreement that industrialized countries have to reduce more consumption of fossil fuels in a given period and have the responsibility to raise money to compensate the economic loss of emerging countries caused by reduction of the usage of fossil consumption. Nations now face a trade-off between reducing the energy consumption and economic development. Without the international discussion, people can hardly or even impossibly expect the industrialized countries such as American to make such a big sacrifice.
Another reason why international effort is required is that different nations have their advantages in different perspectives. Only by cooperating with each other, they can solve this problem in a better manner. One good method to conservation is to develop its substitutes, the renewable resources such as wind power and solar power. The German and Japanese companies currently have the most advanced technology to produce the solar panels while it is the China or India which has the power and cheap labor resources to reach the mass production. Without cooperation, it is far more unrealistic to individual nations have the ability to solve such a complicated and difficult problem.
The final reason why people in different countries need to contribute to the energy conservation is that overconsumption of energy brings disasters to all people in the world. Our climate is affected more and more adversely by the carbon emission caused by the consumption of the fossil fuels.  eople have enjoyed the achievement in the several past decades and now it is their responsibility to make great efforts to prevent their living environment from being damaged or even destroyed. Therefore, it makes nonsense to say that it is none business of certain country to conserve the energy because people in that country cannot be exempt from extinction under the bad living conditions caused by overconsumption of energy in the future.
In conclusion, international cooperation and efforts make the conservation of energy a gradually progressive work rather than an unrealistic goal in some people’s mind. An international commission made by members of different countries should be formed to specialize in monitoring the progress and evaluating the results achieved by different countries.
