请教几个作文题，没太懂什么意思

1. argument题库里有一句话 People who use the artificial sweetener aspartame are better off consuming sugar. 里的better off什么意思？

2. 还有几个issue题：
we shape our buildings and afterward our buildings shape us. 内涵是啥意思？

The ability to deal with people is as purchasable a commodity as sugar or coffee,and it is worth more than any other commodity under the sun. 是说the ability 像sugar一样容易获得呢还是说the ability 像sugar一样可以购买（purchasable）？

第一个issue个人的见解是，我们所创造出来的建筑会影响我们自己的意思吧

第二个我也想问。。我觉得无论是容易获得还是可以购买，好像都行不通。。等待高人解答

我理解是类似于住在封闭的建筑里,人的性格可能也会比较孤立..比如四合院和公寓楼的比较..
