People may hold various views like the captioned one regarding which type of social persons will have the most influence on the course of the community or the nation. As one of those who always consider economy and business the foundation of the community or nation, I firmly agree with the captioned view that, business leaders are more influential and have more chances to do so than any government officials in the social matters, both economically and politically.

Economically, business leaders overwhelming lead the course of the community. Mr. Gates not only established the empire of Microsoft, but also lead the whole world as a community to the era of e-business, which is a revolution to the old economic patter holding for centuries. Of course officials can set up economic policies and regulations for this e-business world, an inluence indeed, but an influence indeed not that much compared to Mr. Gates or other business leaders.

Politically, government officials are deemed as the natural leaders. Are they? No, of course not. Business leaders are in fact the people behind in control of the political matters, rather than the officials. A clear demostration to this is the existence of lobby groups around the door of US Congress. Specifically, an environmental protection law will be voted by hundreds of those Congress men or women, but to the very root voted by thousands of groups of different economic interes, including oil corporations, local groups, or even green energy equiptment providers.

In a word, business leaders not only have more influence on the economic matters, but also stand behind government officials, who in fact act as spokemen or spokewomen, in the political decision makings.
