这里影响 to do 是， ability to do sth.

so that 意思上是不对的。至少也要改成 so effectively curb the aility of a major scientist that he could not purse 才对。

pursue a theory用来描述a major scientist 的 ability 的

A中so that 用法不错，但是意思错了
