Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? University should give the same amount of money to their students' sports and social activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
Most universities hold the opinion that because of the importance of libraries where students can study and gain knowledge universities should give more money to them than they give to students’ sports and social activities which are less essential from their view. However, these universities seem to fail to notice that students need more than knowledge, such as health, relaxation, team spirit and abilities to communicate with others. Sports and social activities waiting for universities to give money support are great media for students to acquire all of them above. Therefore, I believe that students' ports and social activities deserve the same money support from universities as libraries.
First of all, we have to admit that universities libraries which have enormous resources of books are imperative to students. Without universities libraries students can not get information from books whenever they desire. However, with the development of Internet, people can check information from the Internet where gigantic information is shared with people all over the world. For example, libraries on line through which people can read electro-books at home benefit massive people.
Additionally, giving the same amount of money to students' sports and social activities as giving to university libraries provides students with definite advantages. Participating sports offers students with health, relaxation, team spirit all of which are no less vital than what students gain from universities libraries. Let us imagine that with no health students can not have a high quality life not mention learning; with no relax, students can not study efficiently; with no team spirit, students can not corporate with people in society.
Besides, attending social activities is the best way for students in universities to be familiar with the society. Only in social activities have the students contacted with people other than teachers and classmates. Universities have the responsibility to teach students about communicating with people in society so that they can accommodate to the new circumstances after graduation. Therefore, I can safely draw the conclusion that it is better to give the same amount of money to their students' sports and social activities as they give to their university libraries. |
