Work with a group or work independently?

It is a hot and important issue nowadays that should one work with a group or work independently. People never come to an agreement on even such trivial preferences. Well, it may be haste to say which one is better. In my opinion, we should make the decision under different situations since each preference has its own merits.

    Working in a group, people can learn from each other and broad their visions. No matter how experienced you are, how professional you are, you will meet something that you can not handle one day. Not to mention that a myriad of us are not so experienced and professional. Ignore the difficulties or ask for help? It is up to you. Most of us, I believe, will appeal to the group for help. Because all of us know that the power of one single man is limit while the power of group is boundless. Take myself as an example, I work in a consultation company as a statistician. When I  enter the company at the beginning, I am not familiar with the environment so I seldom talk to other people nor communicate with others, except some meetings or seminar that I have no alternative but to attend. One day, however, my boss have a talk and lighten me that it is so important to learn from other people and cooperate with my colleagues. He encouraged me to participate more in the group life. I followed his advice, definitely, I made overwhelming progress which far over my imagination. I learned a myriad of knowledge and valuable experiences form my colleagues. So, you can see the conspicuous merit working in a group.

    Working independently, however, also has its own merits. Through working independently, you can cultivate your ability to do things independently, instead of relying on someone else. The ability is so important that on no account can we ignore it in the society that complete fiercely. Also, you will not disturbed by your friends or your colleagues. Accordingly, you can have a clear thought to handle your headache. Sometimes, it may lead you to a more justice and stable decision, especially when the headache is very critical or urgent. As much of us can see, a decision that made by a group are usually time-consuming since they have to balance different opinions of different members. At this critical time, a man can make a wisdom decision more easily.

   To sum up, due to the reasons mentioned above, we can safely reach the conclusion that under different situation, we need to work in different style. When you can handle it yourself successfully or you have to make an urgent decision, it is a better choice to work independently. On the contrary, if you are not so professional, you had better work with others and learn as more as you can to broaden your insight.
