作文习作:交流+求拍!

请各位同志给点意见吧!

004. It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?

People gain knowledge mainly through two channels: to learn it from books or to accumulate it through experience. Since both of the two sources have some advantages as well as a couple of defects, they are, in reality, complementary to each other.
In general, knowledge obtained from books has a wider range than that comes from experience. Since printing was invented by our ancestors, knowlege has been passed down from one generation to another as well as transmitted from one to another among contemporary countries. For example, we today have the opportunity to learn about people and their cultures from millions of years ago by reading history books and we are also able to understand the customs of a nation who is living as far away from us as at the other end of the world by refering to an anthropologic magzine. Obviously, it's virtually imporssible for us to acquire these by experiencing all of them personally. Therefore, books, acting as one of the sources of knowledge, has indeed enlightened us to a large extent. In contrst, knowledge gained from experience is somewhat limited in terms of breadth.
Moreover, books are relatively easy to get access to, while experience often requires more time, energy or money. A well-develped library, for instance, allows millions of books, magazines and journals containing a large amount of information in a variety of fields, which are always open to everyboby free of charge. Today, in addition, we can also link to numerous e-books on the Internet. Knowledge, carried by the vehicle of words, is almost available on our fingertips.
However, knowledge that is obsorbed from books is not undoubtedly accurate or adequate but sometimes superfacial. Experience is what we rely on to test theories on paper and to learn better by applying them to practice. We can hardly understand or utilize the knowledge gained from reading profoundly without trying it out in reality. For example, if I have just completed reading a book on cooking, I am still not able to make palatable dishes, since I have never made one before. I should definitely have practiced the cooking methods several times before I would manage to prepare an acceptable  meal. Similarly, I can manipulate a computer only after I have used it a couple of times besides reading a book on computer programming.
In conclusion, books offer knowledge in a variety of fields and are relatively easy to obtain, while knowledge from experience is deeper and more practical. It will not work if we count solely on one of two sources to attain information.

065.Shoud a city try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy them and replace them with modern buildings? Use specific reason and examples to support your opinion.

Modernization is one of the key words of our time, which partially features the replacement of old buildings with skyscrapers and edifices in cities. Convinced of the importance of old, historic buildings, however, I definitely advocate that they are supposed to be preserved properly.
In the construction of modern life the value of old buildings of our city has been neglected. Acting as one of the vehicles of history and culture, old buildings offer a great deal of rare and invaluable historic, scientific and artistic merits to us and our descendants. For example, people today are able to learn about the wisdom of the ancients who lived in China thousands of years ago by visiting the spectacular Great Wall. Also, scientists have the opportunity to research the climate changes of a certain region by observing the structures of the old buildings in that region, and thus, are able to foretell the climate in future. Architects, in addition, get access to a variety of design patterns to spur their inspiration by studying typical historic buildings all over the world such as the Taj Mahal of India. As time passes, our offsprings will be more grateful than us to the conservation of historic buildings.
Another great benefit of historic buildings is their glamour to numerous tourists from all over the world every year, which bring about considerable revenue for the host country. Furthermore, the tourist industry in its turn contribute greatly to the social stability and the well-being of people by creating a large amount of  job positions. In several of the age-oldest countries such as China, Egypt, and India, the bulk of historic buildings has benefited the nation economy a lot as a precious source of tourism and a cultural heritage.
Finally, modern buildings don't deserve to be constructed at the sacrifice of our scarce historic buildings, whose value has been explicitly disscussed above. Since most of those monstrous edifices have been built without giving any consideration to our culture, history and environment, they are virtually nothing but kind of boxes for people to live or work in. They are adaptable to all modern human societies and thus are not able to function as an identification for any one of them.
In conclusion, since historic buildings cannot be replaced as sort of origins of historic, scientific and artisitic knowledge and development, they should be preserved punctiliously rather than supplanted by their cultureless modern counterparts.
