In a team, everyone makes decision and shares the responsibility and duties. Someone hold that there should be one person who has the central authority and responsibility for a job, and this does not get the work done effectively. But someone does not think so. From my aspect, whether giving a person the central authority depends on what kind of job or situation On the one hand, everyone in a team has the right to propose his or her own opinion and decision, and to share the responsibilities or duties. In China, there is a saying that when three persons study together, one of them must be good enough to be my teacher. In a team, one person’s thought may probably be different from others’ or even better than others, if he or she does not propose his or her thought, the task could not be done very well or effectively. For example, I am working in a telecommunication company. Last month my department received a project, and then our manager assigned it to four persons, of cause, we consist a team. Every one of us proposed a design of web structure. When we discussed together, we found everyone’s design has one or two point better than others’. Then we revised our designs comprehensively. Finally, we established two designs. Both of them are economical and speedy. This was two days before schedule’s deadline. From this, we can understand how important everyone in the team is. And this is an effective way to get work done. On the other hand, sometimes one person with central authority is necessary. Taking that example again, I have to say so. Because we met a trouble when we have done two designs. We do not know which one should be adopted. Every design has its own advantage and disadvantage. One team became two sides, one side advocates the design A, and the other does design B. At this point, our manager stood out, and confirmed that we should use design A. If the manager did not take the authority and responsibility do choose one. I am not sure when our team can have the work done. Thus, one person in a team with central authority is necessary, and could make the work effective. Shortly, nothing is absolute. There are many solutions to solve one problem. We have to make sure which way is an effective way to get work done in different situation. |
