***Ph.D. Student Positions Available***
A professor from the department of information systems (IS) of the Faculty
of Business, City University of Hong Kong is recruiting Ph.D. (or Masters -
M.Phil.) students in MIS (management information systems). The IS department
at CityU is one of the best MIS research institutions worldwide. According
to a recent research ranking in 2005, we are among the TOP 5 most productive
in MIS publications in the world.

The student will be admitted either as a masters or phd student, or master
first then transfering to phd, depending on his/her qualification. He/She
will be admitted in Jan. 2008 or Sept. 2008. For the whole period of
studies, the student will receive an amount of about HK$12,860 per month and
will be living in the Student residence which costs much less than the
market price. Strong candidates can also come in the fall of 2007 to work as
a research assistant before getting admitted.

The admission requirements include the following:
(1) A strong research interest in one of the areas: electronic commerce,
electronic marketplaces, decision support systems, management information
systems, or online consumer behavior.
(2) A high level of English Proficiency; TOFEL score above 580 is a mininum
requirement
(3) GPA >=85
(4) A background in one of the areas, but not limited to: business including
marketing and management information systems, computer science including
human-computer interaction, English, psychology, etc.

Other information about the program:
(1) Our IS department is among the top IS research institution wordwide.
Some of PhD graduates got job offers (as assistant professors or equivalent)
from very good universities in USA, Europe, as well as in HK.
(2) Normally it takes 2 years for MPhil. and 4 years for PhD. Tutions will
be fully covered by scholarships.
(3) If admitted, you will be provided with scholarships, though the
admission is quite competitive. Students will do some RA and TA jobs as an
important part of the PHD and MPhil training.
(4) You need a Masters degree to get into Phd program. For applicants with a
Bachor's degree, they will be addimtted to the MPhil first. MPhil students
with excellent performance can be transferred to the Ph.D program.
