这道题已经有很多人问过了，但是似乎没有什么非常明确的答案，所以我开个帖子再问问！

我的思路：
1、    排除C，因为没有谓语动词
2、    排除E、B，因为work在这里是复数
然而在A和D之间，我认为A的时态不是很好。

in the early 1970s是修饰主语the work，还是谓语turn to be？如果是修饰谓语动词，根据靠近原则是不是应该放在句末。如果是修饰the work，那么为什么要用一般过去时？

请大家指教！

如果选d ,应该是 describes,应为主语是 the work 单数。

那就是说排除b，是因为what后面的谓语动词看aperiodic tiles，而work依然是单数，对吗？
