The issue of whether employs should keep their private lives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace is a complex and controversial one. Different people hold different views due to their respective angles. On the one hand, as is well-known and has often been advocated, private lives and personal activities need to be kept away from working environment; on the other hand, others probably insist that private lives and personal activities play an important role in working environment. We do not have to look very far to see the valid standpoint of this matter. In the following analysis, I would like to reason and provide evidence favoring the former one and refuting the latter one.

In the first place, the important reason that can be presented to develop my position is that private lives and personal activities have potential negative influences to work efficiency. For example, a mother worried about her child’s safety would not concentrate on her own job, a boy addicted to on-line game would look for game information during working hours and a girl crazy about on-line shopping would search good deals while she is working. Many good examples may be found in the case that private lives and personal activities distract people’s from their job. Under these circumstances, it is obvious that employs should keep their private lives and personal activities as away as possible from the workplace.

In addition, there is another reason for me to choose the former statement. The reason is not far to seek: private lives and personal activities may affect surrounding colleagues negatively. To illustrate, a case in this respect is that a gentleman, who is a classic music lover, plays loud classic music in the office. From his point of view, classic music is the best way to keep him energetic; furthermore, this gentleman wants to promote the "effective way" to every surrounding people. To others, however, a loud music is as annoying as a noise to disturb people's work.

Of course, it may be true that private lives and personal activities could soften office atmosphere in some conditions. However, this alone does not constitute a sufficient support to bring private lives and personal activities to workplace.

Due to the above-mentioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we may safely arrive at the conclusion I support. Consequently, I advocate that employs should keep their private lives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace, because (1) private lives and personal activities have potential negative influence on work efficiency; (2) private lives and personal activities may affect surrounding colleagues negatively. When the advantages and disadvantages of not bringing private lives and personal activities to workplace, the most striking conclusion is obvious: the advantage of employs should keep their private lives and personal activities as separate as possible from the workplace outweigh its potential pitfalls.

“When someone achieves greatness in any field — such as the arts, science, politics, or business — that person’s achievements are more important than any of his or her personal faults.”

Idea

1. Every one has faults. We can not ignore one's achievement only because he or she has made some faults. Likewise, we can not neglect one's error when he or she achieves greatness in the field.

2. Bill Gates

3. Judgments could be easy to be made by a simple and straight method.

Essay

Whether when someone achieves greatness in any field, that person's achievements are more important than any of his or her personal faults? The issue of is a complex and controversial one. Different people hold different views due to their respective angles. On the one hand, as is well-known and has often been advocated, one's great achievements are more significant than any of his or her person faults; on the other hand, others probably insist that one's personal mistakes outweigh his or her outstanding achievements in any field. The complex nature of the above issue requires us to consider it on a case-by-case basis. Generally speaking, whether one has advantages over the other depends on the specific circumstances.

In the first place, the important reason that can be represented to develop my position is that we can not ignore one's achievement only because he or she has made some mistakes. For example, when Bill Gates made his decision to drop out from Harvard, many people thought Bill Gates made a big mistake. Gates entered Harvard in 1973, and dropped out two years later when he and Allen started the engine of Microsoft. Many people did not understand why Gates gave up such a good opportunity to study in the world's No.1 University. However, with size comes power, Microsoft dominates the PC market with its operating system, such as MS-DOS and Windows. Microsoft enhances not only the interface but also the communication path for computer user all over the world. A good example may be found in the case that it is controversial to look only one's achievement or one's personal faults. Under this circumstance, it is obvious that the complex nature of this issue requires us to consider it on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, there is another reason for me to favor this statement. The reason is not far to see: we can not neglect one's error when he or she achieves greatness in the field. To illustrate, a same case in this respect is that Microsoft dominates the PC market by Gates' aggressive and improper marketing strategy, some people called it monopoly. With a huge market share, Windows is planted in other by-products, which are also developed by Microsoft, to force user to adopt Microsoft software. Since user habit is not easy to be changed, this aggressive marketing Strategy eliminates the room for software developer to research new software and improve current product. Take Netscape for example, Netscape once was the main internet explorer on the market, but defeated by Internet Explorer from Microsoft as a result of the negative competition strategy of Gates around 1997.

Of course, it may be true that judgments could be easy to be made by a simple and straight method. However, this alone does not constitute a sufficient support to judge one only based on one's achievements or personal faults.

Due to the above-mentioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we may safely arrive at the conclusion I support. Consequently, I advocate that this issue requires us to consider it on a case-by-case basis, because: (1) we can not ignore one's achievement only because he or she has made some mistakes. (2) We can not neglect one's error when he or she achieves greatness in the field.

“It is unrealistic to expect individual nations to make, independently, the sacrifices necessary to conserve energy. International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential if we expect to protect the world’s energy resources for future generations.”

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

Idea

1. International leadership and worldwide cooperation play important roles in protection of energy resources.

2. International leadership and worldwide cooperation can enhance the effectiveness of energy resource saving even further.

3. Individual nations, like human beings, are always put self-interest in the first priority.

Essay

The issue of whether International leadership and worldwide cooperation are essential is complex and controversial one. Different people hold different views due to their respective angles. On one hand, as is well-known and has often been advocated, International leadership and worldwide cooperation play important roles in protection of energy resources; on the other hand, others probably insist that International leadership and worldwide cooperation are not necessary for protection of energy resources. We do not have to look very far to see the valid standpoint of this matter. In the following analysis, I would like to reason and provide evidence favoring the former one and refuting the latter one.

In the first place, the important reason that can be presented to develop my position is that International leadership and worldwide cooperation have leaded successful protection on rare resources. OPEC is one of the best examples. OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, is an international organization of eleven developing countries that are heavily reliant on oil revenues as main source of income. Since oil revenues are so vital for economic development of these nations, they aim to bring stability and harmony to the oil market by adjusting their oil output to help ensure a balance between supply and demand. In the long run, the stabilized output helps to cease the problem of over-refining and over utilization of oil energy.

In addition, there is another reason for me to choose the former statement. The reason is not far to seek. International leadership and worldwide cooperation can enhance the effectiveness of energy resources saving even further. To illustrate, a case in point in this respect is that developed countries already masters the technology of using more efficient and economical energy resources, such as water and solar energy, while the traditional and wasted energy still dominates in the developing countries. International cooperation enables the technology to transfer between developed countries and developing countries and devotes to the benefit of entire human beings. A worldwide leader can speed up the decision-making progress and enhance the solidarity among the member countries.

Of course, it may be true that Individual nations, like human beings, put self-interest in the first priority in some conditions. However, this alone does not constitute a sufficient support to deny the necessity of International leadership and worldwide cooperation in protection of energy resources. When the advantage and disadvantage of worldwide cooperation and individual nations sacrifices on energy saving, the most striking conclusion is obvious.

Consequently, I advocate that International leadership and worldwide cooperation are significant in protection of energy resources, because: (1) International leadership and worldwide cooperation have leaded successful protection on rare resources; (2) International leadership and worldwide cooperation can enhance the effectiveness of energy resources saving even further. Due to the above-mentioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and thus become more persuasive, we may safely arrive at the conclusion I support.

People are likely to accept as a leader only someone who has demonstrated an ability to perform the same tasks that he or she expects others to perform.”

Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

Idea

1. If a supervisor does not have the ability to finish the task his or she assign, he or she may not convenience his or her subordinator to do the task.

2. Subordinators needs help and support from supervisor to solve issues and difficulties they encountered.

3. Capability is not the only criterion of a supervisor.

Essay

The issue of whether
people are likely to accept as a leader only someone who has demonstrated an ability to perform the same tasks that he or she expects others to perform is a complex and controversial one. Different people hold different views from their respective angles. On the one hand, as is well-known and has often been advocated, people would only accept a task from a leader whose capability is superior to theirs; on the other hand, others probably insist that a leader does not need to have the knowledge of
all the tasks he assigned. We do not have to look very far to see the valid standpoint of this matter. In the following, I would like to reason and provide evidence favoring the former one and refuting the latter one.

In the first place, the important reason for me to choose the former statement is that if a supervisor does not have the ability to finish the tasks his or she assign, he or she may not convenience his or her subordinator to do the tasks. A good example may be found in the cast that when a subordinator receives a new task, he or she needs to receive clear instruction and enough information from his or her leader, who should thoroughly understand the purpose, the know-how and the goal of the task. Under this circumstance, it is obvious that a leader, who can not demonstrates an ability to perform the same tasks that he or she expects other to perform, would not be able to convenience his or her subordinator to accept the tasks.

In addition, another reason that can be presented to develop my position is that a subordinator needs help and support from a supervisor to solve issues and difficulties he or she encountered. For example, when one faces an issue he or she does not know how to deal with; this issue turns to one’s supervisor naturally. Therefore, it is undoubted that supervisor’s capability is a critical element to let his or her subordinator to be willing to accept different tasks.

Of course, in some conditions, it may be true that capability is not the only criterion for a leader to convenience his or her subordinator to accept the tasks he or she assigned. However, this alone does not constitute a concrete support to the latter statement that a leader does not need to have the knowledge of all the tasks he assigned.

Due to above-mentioned reasons, which sometimes intertwine to form an organic whole and becomes more persuasive, we may safely arrive at the conclusion I support. Consequently, I advocate that people would only accept a task from a leader whose capability is superior to theirs, because (1) if a supervisor does not have the ability to finish the tasks his or she assign, he or she may not convenience his or her subordinator to do the tasks (2) a subordinator needs help and support from a supervisor to solve issues and difficulties he or she encountered.
