16. Essayist: Wisdom and intelligence are desirable qualities. However, being intelligent does not imply that one is wise, nor does being wise imply that one is intelligent. In my own experience, the people I meet have one or the other of these qualities but not both. Oh, boy this stimulus is as confusing as hell. Let’s work it out. This is an inference type of question. The right answer should infer from the stimulus. The stimulus of this type of question contains information only, no argument.
If the essayist’s statements are true, them each of the following could be true EXCEPT: Note; could be true except = must be false (sometime do this kind of logical transformation make the question a lot easier to understand) This question is a test of your understanding of could be true. Could be true is any thing that you can not prove to be false. (A) Most people are neither intelligent, nor wise. This could be true, since all information in the stimulus can not prove it false. You can not find direct information in the stimulus against it. (B) Most people are both intelligent and wise. This could be true, since all information in the stimulus can not prove it false. You can not find direct information in the stimulus against it. (C) No one is both wise and intelligent. This could be true, since all information in the stimulus can not prove it false. You can not find direct information in the stimulus against it. (D) No one is either wise or intelligent. This is must be false, cause in stimulus states that “people I meet have one or the other of these qualities but not both”. It must be false if no people are wise or intelligent.(D) D)(E) Many people are intelligent and yet lack wisdom. This could be true, since all information in the stimulus can not prove it false. You can not find direct information in the stimulus against it.
