After Morgan IBD Summer intern ...

前辈们好:

       今年暑假刚在Morgan IBD实习完,但可惜没有被录用进fulltime analyst。背景:国内法学、经济学双学士学位07年应届毕业(且法学已保研,鉴于最近进到投行final interview 后没有消息,就和学校签了保研协议。。。),内心里打算出国读书,只可惜准备得太晚,现在的选择是读完研出去念PHD/MBA,有如下疑问,望不吝赐教:

1。是否多数B学校MBA还有工作经验要求?我读完研后,直接申MBA会不会有困难,ibanking的经历能作数么?

2。是否有哪家B-school的MBA和金融地产有关,偶比较感兴趣。。。

3。有个华尔街股市交易员的offer(在国内按美国时间夜间上班),是否有前辈了解?对进finance indutrsy有帮助么?偶的考虑是,国内还有两年的读研时间,夜间上班白天仍可以学习,假使不如意也可以抽身,没有opportunity cost。。。

我不是投行的, 不过是前辈

1, 没有工作经验不要读MBA, 这个是100%的答案

2, 现在研究也没用. 不过美国最好的金融方面的MBA是沃顿

3, 这种Offer第一次听说. 能拿到就不要在国内读研了, 对你的投行生涯没什么帮助(因为估计你是top-4本科的)

如果经济条件允许, 直接出国读研最好,当然要好学校(个人意见)

然后还有些不太明白的地方

1。无工作经验不要念mba是因为学校不收or你认为这样走对我的career path没有帮助?之前我在水木bbs中看到沃顿和其他某所TOP school的招办人员放话,今后放宽工作经验的限制。。。

2。然后说到职业规划,我并不是抱着直奔投行的目的的,倒觉得房地地产一类关乎国家土地、权证的indutrsy更有运转全局的力量,甚至将来可以自己做business,我是想问是否有学校的mba或postg项目有这个偏好?

1. You won't get as much out of it, and have even less to contribute to your classmates.

2. There are programs focused on real estate but probably not a whole degree for it.

1. if you want to go abroad for top mba, then master degree in china is a waste of time. I don't think you can learn a lot in China, esp. in finance area (even PBOC's wudaokou).
2. apply for mba without experience: don't try to get any reason. recommend you to give up this idea as it's meaningless to discuss with you when you don't have work experience and of course don't value work experience
3. real estate: i think your understanding about real estate is different from real estate business in developed world. If you are interested in real estate finance, then join a real estate company in China right after graduation. I don't think you can learn a lot or find a good job in this area without work experience. I have several classmates with strong real estate experience finally join real estate private equity or ib real estate team.
- One guy might have the highest pay in my class (the rumor is that his pay exceed USD400K). But all depends on his previous strong real estate experience in different COUNTRIES. Once I heard he said no to a head hunter when Blackstone has a vacancy!!!
- Another one rejected an offer from Fidelity real estate private equity even he can choose where to work as he has very strong real estate background: american, native Japanese speaker with many years real estate funds experience in Tokyo, real estate master in MIT. Do you think you can compete with them?

In conclusion, work experience is very important. I strongly recommend you to have relevant experience before apply for top MBA, otherwise you will find you really don't understand what is tought in school and can't find a good job after graduation.

For the job offer, I do not think Swifttrade is a good choice for you. It may not give as much boost to your career development in finance as u thought.   And your plan seems not feasible (work in the night while study in the day), or you may try a month or two, you'll understand what I'm talking about

After all,  Morgan intern will be a great advantage for you

如果你没有背景或者家财,房地产不可能成为你的business,这水不是你一个小姑娘能趟的。赫赫

赫赫, 大牛牛前辈们的意见真的很到位

看来房地产和直接申mba的念头可以打消一下了。。。

然后,包括nnm,kevinao ,yaoyao,zimerman ,飞跃太平洋在内的各位先辈

amex trader工作经历真的对finance career一点帮助都没有么?

那边的老板这几天正等我答复呢。。。
