A. begin to carry out
B. began carrying out.
答案为B.  Begin to do sth . 与begin doing sth. 有区别吗？什么区别？

95.12.16 Allan Pinkerton, （founder） of （the famous） detective agency that bears （him） name, directed a Civil War espionage system （behind） Confederate lines.
founder这里可以不加the吗？  Bear sb sth.不对吗，是要改成bears him his name?or bears his name.什么意思？

95.12.22

答案为D. why? 应怎么改？

the answer is D.  Why? Must  'good' be changed to 'goods'? To be a n.?

the answer is C. what's the differences between advertising and advertisement, they both are n. ?  Is advertising countable.?

which is the answer. 有些版本是A,  有些为C.
我排除法得出A。但也未曾见过A这种句法“. as the sum of” 为介词短语修饰which吗，有人见过这种用法吗？

begin to do sth 与begin doing sth 是有区别，前者表示具体动作一，后者表示抽象动作。但是本题的问题在，in 1948应该用过去时，began 对。

bear one's name，承担着某人的名声。

small形容形状大小，不应该用来修饰pressure,用little.

absord gas （good）中的good应该为副词，修饰动作absorb.

advertising 是集合名词，advertisement表示一个具体的广告。

最后一题只有A结构正确。

1、两者的用法在语法上没有什么区别（记得高中时老师讲是有区别的），这里是时态上的差异。
2、him改成his，这里是“侦探所以他的名字命名”的意思。
3、small 无法修饰不可数名词 pressure，应该用little。
4、我觉得应该把good，改成well，副词后置修饰 absorbs。
5、是由于可数、不可数的区别，不过，你正好搞反了。
6、很多人都觉得这题可能有错。
