申请经验分享—— 关于推荐表、签名

编辑推荐表这个工作的确很耗时，光是搞懂怎么用PDF就不容易了。

我也是在这个工作上花了不少时间，应该说是花了不少冤枉时间！

一直以来，大家都存在一个问题，怎么编辑推荐表？大部分人的推荐表都是自己编辑好，让老师签名即可，但是怎么编辑，这存在一个逻辑问题，这也是我浪费了很多时间后得出的结论。我就说说我是怎么做的吧。

1．  用PDF编辑填写本人和推荐人的个人信息。

2．  打印。

3．  自己签名。

4．  让别人（因为老师通常没有时间帮我们写）在一些需要推荐人回答问题的地方手写上设计好的答案。

5．  把推荐表拿给推荐人签名。

刚开始，我是个人信息和要求回答的地方都用PDF编辑填写好，然ersonName w:st="on" ProductID="后拿给">后拿给ersonName>老师签名就好。可是过后才发现这有个逻辑混乱的造价问题。这么一说大家可能就发现了。

原则上，问题是由老师回答填写的，而且老师是最后一个处理推荐表的人，那么原则上，怎么可能由你用PDF编辑填写好所有你的和推荐人的个人信息，打印出来，并签上你的名后， 推荐人还可以用PDF在你给的那张推荐表上再用PDF，在回答问题的地方用PDF编辑填写呢？

所以，总结一下：个人信息的地方可以用PDF编辑；推荐人回答问题给评价的地方应该手写！

补充一点：如果觉得PDF很不好用的话，手写也无妨——虽然很多表上写着please PRINT, CD有前辈说了，这样要求只是要求你写工整就好了！

When I asked my current boss to write recommendation for me, I also gave him a small gift. He returned it to me along with a bunch of recommendation letters and he told me that I could give him such a gift at any other occasion but not this moment. He is indeed bit maverick (in many other aspects), but I guess he wants to be neutral.

Actually, I have presented my idea regarding recommendation before. Say something more here. First, I totally understand the action of writing recommendation by ourselves. Some guys hesitate to ask professors to write recommendations because they think these professors they refer to are busy and will be tired of doing so. I think this might not stand. To my current understanding, writing recommandations is an honor other than a burden for professors. If the professors use "busy" as an excuse, I think they should be "blamed". Here we might have neglected one fact that some Chinese professors might not be comfortable with writing in English. Well, this is another story.

By the way, it is better to have several conversations with the professors whom we refer to regarding our application prior to asking them to write the recommendations. By doing so, the professors would be able to know us, our intention, our career goal and our credential more, and thus the recommendations can be more convincing. I believe schools would be tired of a piece of paper with numerous flattering words but no specific facts.

My cousin used to work at an admission committee (science filed though) and she told me that she had read too many "bad" recommendations and in some letters the applicants were even described as a "junk". I was also told that the applicants' profiles would not thrown in the trash can only because one "bad" recommendation letter, and the admission committee would explore the reason and refer to the other two recommendation letters. Such cases may really go to the extreme; however, I think only people who know us well can present a better picture of us, even for our con side.

As I said before, it is hard to write several letters using different writing styles. Be careful!

leighyao，我很赞同你的建议。的确，我没有在争取让老师亲自写推荐信这件事上做很多的努力。但是，我收到了不少暗示。当我拿着空的推荐表给老师试图让他写的时候，老师签完名，然后就说，上面的内容你可以自己写吧。甚至老师说签名也可自己完成。

我也想老师帮我写，这会帮自己省不少时间精力（DIY的情况下）。但是，有时情况是客观的。我的老师英语水平真的不怎样。用中文写推荐信或者还可行，用英文，则。。。不过或许你会说，可以让老师用中文写后再让其他学生翻译啊——或许这可行。

我想关键的原因是，中西方老师对待推荐信的态度。正如leighyao说的，writing recommandations is an honor other than a burden for professors。这或许是西方人的态度，但是,在这里很多老师并没有这样的意识。

关于Recommendation Form的问题，呵呵，我因为太赶太赶了，那些问题懒得回答，最后就空着，反正有个Recommendation letter

不过国内老师虽然有很认真的，但是大部分确实是懒得给你那样慢慢写推荐信。在国内，credit是个非常不可靠的东西，学校只认分数。所以推荐信他们不care。

而且据我所知，商科还好，理科的同学居然有申请30个学校的！！（我不知道他们最后是不是真的申请了30所学校，但是估计他们可能用平信寄，然后逃申请费、逃GT正式成绩，所以成本很低。）
