A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory near your community. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community. Do you support or oppose the factory? Explain your position.|

It is announced that a large factory will be built in our community. As to whether it’s more or less beneficial to our life is hard to confirm. But apparently, I think that the advantages of building a factory is a bit more than those of their disadvantages. Hence, I’m in the side of supporting this programme.

First of all, there is no doubt that building a factory will definitely increase the job opportunities to the people living nearby or even far away. They need high-educated and experienced people to manage the factory, the skilled people to do the technique work and also large quantities of people to do such kinds of jobs as secretaries, clerks and so on.

Secondly, it will improve the traffic situation as well. I clearly remembered that several years ago ,it would take me about 2 hours by bus to go to my sister’s house which was at that time located in the suburb with no shopping centers, business buildings and factories nearby. But 2 years later, as more and more famous companies and factories chose that area as their working places, such improvements on traffic had been on the trail. Metros, buses and light axles can all come to that place easily. Now, it will only takes me 40 minutes to go there by subway. How can you imagine that!

Also, building a factory can still promote the local economy and increase taxes to the government as well.

However, there may also appear a disadvantage that may caused by building a large factory---pollution. We can’t deny that through today’s mass media like TV, newspaper and Internet, there are a lot of reports on gas pollution, noise pollution and water pollution which all result from the factories. So, if a factory is built near our community, we may more or less suffer from this kind of problem that is no good to our health.

Anyway, despite the disadvantage that the factory may bring to us, we can see clearly the advantages, such as increasing job opportunities , improving traffic situations and promoting economy. All in all, it’s not a bad idea to build a large factory near our community.
