If you are young, I encourage you to pursue your top schools dream, if they are indeed your dream. The most important thing is the journey of pursuing your dreams, getting to know yourself better and knowing what you really want at the end. Failure in application doesn't mean failure in life. In my view, hard work is mandatory for success, but luck is the determining factor leading to success. Just look at the President of Harvard University, Larry Summers. He got his professorship at laceName>HarvardlaceName> laceName>BusinesslaceName> laceType>SchoollaceType> at the age of 28. He used to be the Treasure in Clinton’s administration. One of his grandparents won Nobel Prize. Now he is only 51, but is forced to resign. Sometimes I think, if his life had not been so successful, he would still be the President of Harvard in the following years.
I hardly had time to prepare my essays and resume, however, I know that I’ve tried my best, and I learned so much during the process. That's enough. There are so many factors out of our control.
