The answer is B, why not E? And why "investigating" is used to modify experiment?
experiments investigating ....现在分词做定语，例如： In physics journals, the number of articles reporting the results of experiments involving particle accelerators was lower last year than it had been in previous years. E中的to investigate的表示目的似乎并不是句子的意思，而且E中的what the effects changes是错误的表达方式，应该是what are the effects that changes.....。
Thanks for the explaination. But isn't "...experiments that investigated..." more reasonable than "...experiments investigating..."? After all, "investigate" does not happen at the same time as "was the scene of". Therefore, I didn't choose B. What do you think?
