1.(187)United States Senator Daniel Inouye was appointed to several posts within the Democratic Party during his first term, that included assistant majority whip and vice-chair of the Democratic Senatorial Committee.

C.including

including比which included更为简洁、明确,including介词短语修饰前面短语的核心词posts。

2.(188)Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.
A.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are

The explanatory phrase between the subject and predicate is set off by commas, and the main clause contains both a subject (Neuroscientists) and a corresponding verb (are now drawing).

3.(189)She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to her native Germany, photographer Lotte Jacobi nevertheless earned a small group of discerning admirers, and her photographs were eventually exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States.

C.Less successful after she emigrated to New York than she had been in 正确选项

D When compared to is an incorrect phrase to complete the comparison introduced by less.

Day 7

1. 选C 考点rhetorical constructions
这个语法点没什么好说的,就是Including的用法,用在名词后面类同位语的用法,解释说明proceeding noun
这里including解释说明several posts

2. 选A thetorical constructions 修饰
看splitA/B having后面半句话是修饰Neuroscientists的,但B的over the past twenty years 介词短语放在句尾有歧义不优,B后面用are连接就很奇怪,后面半句也变成了modifier,整个句子变成了fragment
D/E的have ammassed结构前面变成了主句,意思变成了在积累了很多知识后,如何如何。这里D和E逗号后都没有连接词,都是run-on sentence,错误排掉
C的and+are问题同B
选A

3. 选C 考点比较 修饰
从未划线句子判断出前半句话应该是photographer Lotte Jacobi的修饰语
A拿从句和Germany作比较 错误
B同A,另外as compared to不太对吧
C比较对象都是successfulness正确
D比较对象问题同A/B 另外Altohugh和nevertheless是不是只用保一个就行
E语法上感觉没啥问题,但对比C的结构来说有点多了,C优于E, (大错特错,had been的时态表过去的过去怎么能用在这里呢???你在想什么?另外前后两个完整句子拿逗号连接这不妥妥的run-on sentence么??)

我的答案:CAC
1.
A that做定语从句的时候不能加逗号
B 先行词不是term
D some的指代不对
E being不对
2.
B and are不对
C and are不对
D E 改变了句子的核心意思
3.
A run-on sentence
B 比较用than
D 比较用than
E run-on sentence

1.(187)United States Senator Daniel Inouye was appointed to several posts within the Democratic Party during his first term, that included assistant majority whip and vice-chair of the Democratic Senatorial Committee.
A.that included
B.which includes
C.including
D.some of which were
E.among them being

C* 后面的assistant majority whip和vice-chair都是前面的posts,所以B即使越位修饰了也不对,应该是include。A的that不可以放在句首。D读起来非常奇怪,而且which离posts太远了。E读起来就不对。选C。

2.(188)Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are now drawing solid conclusions about how the human brain grows and how babies acquire language.
A.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood, are
B.Neuroscientists, having amassed a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are
C.Neuroscientists amassing a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood over the past twenty years, and are
D.Neuroscientists have amassed a wealth of knowledge over the past twenty years about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood,
E.Neuroscientists have amassed, over the past twenty years, a wealth of knowledge about the brain and its development from birth to adulthood,

D*
不可以用having,排除AB。C的and不对。在DE之中纠结了一下,选D。但不知道E的问题在哪里。
这道题答案是A。可以用having的形式。(我震惊了,以前一直以为不可以,蒙着对了好多题。一定要记住!)

3.(189)She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to her native Germany, photographer Lotte Jacobi nevertheless earned a small group of discerning admirers, and her photographs were eventually exhibited in prestigious galleries across the United States.
A.She was less successful after she had emigrated to New York compared to
B.Being less successful after she had emigrated to New York as compared to
C.Less successful after she emigrated to New York than she had been in
D.Although she was less successful after emigrating to New York when compared to
E.She had been less successful after emigrating to New York than in

C*
D的although和后面的nevertheless重复了。
E是after emigrating to NewYork和in her native比较,比较对象有误。另外She had been…, and her photographs were…是两个句子,不可以用逗号连接两个句子。
关于AB的compared to使用错误,Ron的解答是:(大意:compared to/with不可以出现表示比较的词,比如three times, more, greater, prefer)
if you have a sentence that says "compared to/with" (or similar constructions, including "in comparison to", "as compared to/with", etc.), then the sentence CANNOT also use a comparison word, such as more, less, greater, prefer, better, worse, X times as much, etc.

to use "compared to/with", you just STATE statistics, without using any other comparison word.

examples:
this year's unemployment rate of 12% is three times as great compared to the rate in 1994 --> incorrect (redundant)

the correct way to write it:
this year's unemployment rate is 12%, compared to 4% in 1994
i.e., you just come out and SAY the statistics, and then give "compared to"

1.        That included 不能做定语从句,which 可以但b的时态错误,DE改变句意了,选择C 伴随状语修饰posts
2.        B,C over the past twenty years 修饰的主体应该是knowledge,更改了句意
D,E 句意应该是想要突出神经学家已经得出了结论
选A
3.        A 像是两个国家在比较
E,作为从句这是一个完整的句子
D 改变句意
B 句子结构不对
选C
