答案C。谁解惑一下，sold an average of 81,000 fewer Sunday papers是什么意思啊。啥叫平均少卖了啊。。理解不了。
在今年，公司平均少卖了81份报纸，和去年同期比。怎么个平均法啊？？

楼主，开头说了，是截至9月30日，为期6个月；一年前同期是指截至一年前9月30日，为期6个月。当时6个月周日papers的平均销量（另，应该是少了八万一千份不是81份吧），供参考

平均日销量？周销量？月销量？季度销量？
如果是今年的六个月和去年的六个月，总数比总数，那怎么个平均法？

有一种可能是每次发行的周日PAPERS的平均销量（当然是同期相比）。一般周日PAPERS，一周发行一次

想问一下这道题为什么A,B,E用less不对呢？很多人都说”we are talking about papers“所以可数名词应该用fewer，但我觉得这里比较的主语不是"numbers"吗？那么如果用fewer岂不是在数”一个number两个numbers“...? 我觉得这里形容number本身的程度，所以用less没问题呀？
对应在Manhattan SC 70页也提到了，
"If you wish to make a comparison using the word numbers, use greater than, not more than (which might imply that the quantity of numbers is larger, not the numbers themselves):
The rare Montauk beaked griffin is not extinct; its numbers are now suspected to be much GREATER than before"
