(about the size of Jupiter) 应该是修饰 stars 的，但是直接跟在planets后，导致修饰错误。
B选项：Astronomers had discovered 17 nearby stars with planets orbiting them that were (about the size of Jupiter)。that 后的从句修饰them， them 是stars.
然后 带回原句， astronomers had discovered 17 nearby stars with planets orbiting starts that were (about the size of Jupiter)
这样(about the size of Jupiter) 修饰的就是stars了, 然而句意就变了 句意成了：starts were about size of Jupiter.
我是这么理解的。然而我理解的是错的。。哈哈哈 正确答案是A
先來看語意邏輯，不管about the size of Jupiter是修飾planets(自己認為是這個)，還是修飾stars，在邏輯上都不會出現邏輯不合理之處。
所以個人認為不需要糾結修飾對象到底為何，因為這不是最後的判題點。
第二是建議藉由選項兩兩比對差異來判斷：
A. had discovered 17 nearby stars that are orbited by planets
B. had discovered 17 nearby stars with planets orbiting them that were
差異處有：
1. that are orbited V.S. with planets orbiting
2. by planets V.S. them
3. that were
---------------------------
1. A選項的句意是強調有17顆恆星被與木星一樣大的星球所環繞，Ｂ選項是強調當時有星球正環繞著；
可以想想到底是有17顆恆星被很大的星球環繞有意義，還是有恆星被星球環繞有意義。
2. 清楚名詞與代名詞；若是在還沒看到them後面的修飾語時，
them 可以指代的對象有astronomers與stars，且兩個語意邏輯上沒有問題，
需要看到後面的修飾語才知道them真正想修飾的對象。
