根据RON神的帖子和自己的一些总结,欢迎大家指正~
1、so + adj/adv + that = such + adj+noun +that: emphasize the extreme quality of adj/adv, followed by some consequence of the extreme quality
但是如果要强调的是adj的特性,用so + adj+that
Don is so tall that he can reach the top shelf...
It is such a heavy box that I can not lift it
2、 so +adj +as to + verb 这里的verb只能描述some sort of state
I am so ugly as to be viscerally repulsive to women. 正确
I am so ugly as to repel women on sight. 错误

The category 1 to 5 rating known as the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale provides an estimate of a hurricane’s potential to destroy or damage property, and is primarily determined by wind speed; a category 5 storm has wind speeds so high as to blow away small buildings, completely destroy mobile homes, and cause severe window and door damage. 注意这里的blow away 也是描述wind的状态,but我也不太清楚到底怎么判断什么时候是some sort of state,求NN指点~~
3、so that 可连接两个句子,这个就不多说了
4、so as to : discribe indirect intentions I call him so as to invite him. bad, because call him directly to invite him Joe bought him a gym membership so as to become more attractive to women. 自己意会
5、such that=in such a way that He arranged the cards such that they would not fall.
6、enough to the idiom "x is enough to y" is used when x is the criteria by which an ability to achieve y is measured. I am strong enough to lift that box. 正确 "a category 5 storm has wind speeds high enough to blow away small buildings" ---说明 wind speeds are the criteria by which one measures the ability to blow away small houses.
