答案里说到的the opening clause "she was less successful ..."therefore creats a comma splice if the comma is not followed by a conjunction.是什么意思呀?
第二句的nevertheless在这里不能用作conjunction吗？
这题为什么最好用形容词形式来表达Jacobi was less successful in new York than in Germany？

Because in (A) there are two full sentences without any conjunction words (lianci) such as "and", the answer is wrong.

1. nevertheless此处做副词而非连词
2. 注意比较对象，比的是去纽约和在德国，而不是纽约和德国
3. compared to是用来比较两个东西或者事的，是拿A和B去比，比的是什么要看context，这个idiom的重点是比东西，不是比程度，如果你已经有了明确的要比较的东西已经明确的比较程度的结论就不能用compared to，所以这题用compared to是不合逻辑的。你可以说Compared to her time in New York, her time in Germany was much more successful.

看到加粗的部分是个完整句子,前面还有逗号, 说明逗号前不是是完整句子, 要不然就run on. 排除A, E

B和D除了没有less than这种更好的表达方式之外, compared to her native Germany, 拿东西和Germnay对比,语义上明显错误.
