I think in terms of $$ and job security, accounting phd is probably the best for the time being. I would highly recommend it. If you can do something in the intersection between economics and tax in accounting research, it would be promising...
Personally, I don't know too much about quant marketing. I've heard it's started to gain traction recently. Don't worry about "accounting experience". You have 5 years to gain it as a PhD.

Again speaking of "accounting experience", do not even worry about it, especially in teaching. I would say though if accounting is what you are shooting for, try to identify what subfield you want to work on, eg, auditing, capital market, or tax. Read some papers and get some general ideas first...

I hope that "getting popular nowadays" means there are growing demand for quant mkt researchers, rather than too many people enter quant marketing to result in an oversupply of quant marketers...
I am quite concerned with the job market of quant mkt as its likely that I will apply for phd marketing for 2018 fall intake.
