代词指代问题

各位大神帮帮忙！
A group of paleontologists recently announced that a site in Utah has yielded fossils of some of the biggest armored dinosaurs ever found, and that they were at least 25 million years older than any similar dinosaur type previously found in North America.

Aand that they were at least 25 million years older than any similar dinosaur type previously
Band they are at least 25 million years older than those of any similar dinosaur type that previously was
Cand the fossils are at least 25 million years older than any similar dinosaur types that previously were

关于代词指代问题一直不是很懂啊，对A的解释有点不懂，很多人说A是因为they的代词指代不清，但是如果我们看逻辑主语的话，为什么主语不能直接是fossils呢？（因为我觉得dinosaurs不可能或那么久啊）而且既然是先找逻辑主语，那怎么还会有代词指代不清的问题呢？求大神帮忙解答下啊！另外能否在做代词指代的问题是提供一点小建议啊，指代问题实在让我好纠结啊！

如果是fossils那更不对了啊，那就是fossils older than any similar dinosaur type previously 比较不对等
而且根据and的用法我们可以直接排除ABC
and可以1.提示平行结构
2.连接两个逻辑上没有直接关联的成分。如我路上遇到了堵车，and 我迟到了。说明迟到和堵车并没有直接联系，其他因素导致了堵车。
在这里，显然划线部分和之前的部分有强烈的逻辑联系，所以直接排除ABC
E的错误和我最开始说的一样，比较对象不对等

有名词时一般都是名词优先于代词
