[求助]OG上的两道比较的语法题

OG16-90题：

Prices at the producer level are only 1.3percent higher now than those of a year ago and are going down, even thoughfloods in the Midwest and drought in the South are hurting crops and thereforeraising corn and soybean prices.

OG16-104题：

Heating-oil prices are expected to behigher this year than last because refiners are paying about $5 a barrelmore for crude oil than they were last year.

为什么上题的比较需要引用those of..., 下题可以直接引用last，同样都是 prices are higher ... than...

记得Ron解释过类似的例子，他的意思应该是都可以。。
这两题的解释中有明确说其中一种用法是错的吗？

两个说法都可以，第一句可以是now和时间状语a year ago的比较。
Ron说GMAT答案都是对的，但是答案的解释不一定对，因为不是出题人写的。

1. 这题GMAT没考比较than后面部分的形式。原句使用了now表示现在，正确答案是想拿prices of this year 与 those of a year ago做平行结构。如果now － a year ago，也是可以的。因为他们都是prices的一个adjective modifier. 不会引起歧义和破坏结构。

2. prices are higher this year than last [year].
这句中省略了year。在parallelism中，right side出现关键词，其省略部分可以copy left side，只要不引起ambiguity，不破坏原来的结构，就是make sense的。
