Got to know a few friends who went to top MBAs these a few years, all of them are with engineering background. Please take it as reference.
A. from Simon, 1997 intake (* may not consider top one, but still a good program), J&J in charge of Asia Marketing. He told me that overall economy situation is more important than the ranking.
B. from MIT, 2000 intake (* Found no job after graduation, then be a research assistant at MIT and hard to get a decent management job two years later when economy was better. He told me that he should not accept the research assistant's offer, otherwise it would be easier for him to land a better job when economy got better.
C. from Johnson, 2001 intake, got an 85K USD offer in US, but decided to go back to Shanghai 3 months later. Now a project director at Shanghai, his subordinator's pay is more that 85K USD as a GM for a small company. He told me that to pursue CEIBS maybe a better choice than Johnson and as a Chinese it was really hard to manager those white people.
D. from INSEAD, 2004 intake, got an 150K USD offer from credit swiss & first boston, (* He is an Indian from IIT and ranked top 1% at IIT.)He told me that to work in IB and consulting firm is like work in hell. It is common for him to be back home at 2 to 3 AM. If you went back to home before 11:00PM, you feel that you commit a crime not just feel guity.
I have made my decision after looking carefully about my strenths and weaknesses honestly. |
