我看了OG的解释，知道答案应该是A，用单复数排除就好，问题是对于里面一段关于only摆放位置的解释我就看不懂了，他说Only is placed with precision next to the group of words it actually limits,by heart disease and cancer.Plcaed before surpassed,only would more ambiguously limited surpassed.
但是是怎么推断only是修饰surpassed 还是后面的disease and cancer呢？而且放中间不是也会有歧义吗？

同好奇，我知道only放不同地方会有不同意义，可是有点难理解这里的歧义点在哪里？

only放前面的话会让人产生“heart disease and cancer"是一种病的歧义吧。

only surpassed 强调的是only
surpassed only 强调的是surpassed

Only要放在它修饰的词的前面！according to GMAT we rarely mean that the verb is the only action ever performed by the subject.
