Schools have always offered students three types of after-school activities. But due to recent limited budgets, they can only support one kind ofactivities. Which one would you choose? Why? 1. sports 2. arts 3. volunteering(e.g. for the community) Facing with restricted budgets, what kindof extracurricular activities should school offer? In my point of view, doingexercises is of vital importance to students’ life. My reasons are as follows.
First of all, homework and experimentreports are such considerable burden to students that they prefer sitting inthe classroom to study instead of going out to do some outdoor activities whenthey are free. Unfortunately, the neglect of exercise gives rise to higher andhigher fail ratio of physical education examination even though the passingscore is reducing year by year. To my concern, either study or work is based ona strong body so school should pay attention to students’ health state and theamount of exercise and support greatly students to do more sports.
Next, sports facility does not need alot of man material resource and money. If the school campus is big enough, afootball pitch or several basketball court are practicable plans because soccerand basketball are popular among the adolescent. What’s more, in view of girls’need, volleyball court can also be taken into consideration. Adversely, if thespace is limited, a single room is able to hold a number of chess players. Tabletennis tables cannot take up to much area. Given that all the facilities isbuilt outside, school can save gymnasium construction fee.
Last but not least, most popular sportsin campus are team works which can foster students’ team spirit. Take basketballfor the instance, basketball match is very common and each class shouldorganize a team. Boys, unfamiliar with each other, gather, play, have conflictand establish rapport and friendship. Sport is a magical and passionate thing indeedand maybe that is the reason why it is so attractive.
In a nutshell, sport is a necessary projectthat school should support.
