只有一点不明白，就是关于can与have  the ability to do    白勇里面不是说 can表示可能  be able to 表示能力  
按照题意  我觉得应该是有能力去分析化学成分  为什么这里用can而不用have  the ability to do？？？  


亦或者是 be able to do与have  the ability to do  之间有问题？？   跪求NN指导

首先白勇说的没错。will 表示意愿 can表可能，ability表能力，capacity表潜能，13侧重于说人，而24人、物均可。

楼上说的很好,have the ability to do...能做什么东西,其实是很客观很主动的说法,楼上总结的侧重说人,应该也是这个意思,人具有做某事请的能力,而东西,具有的不能说是能力,而是功能,他没有主动完成任务的能力,这个意思如果受了中文表达的影响,则容易糊涂.比如中文里面说,人能打字,电脑能打字,两个能其实是两个意思:人具有打字的能力,而电脑具有(被用来)打字的功能,而这两者在英文中表达却不一样,换句话说中文的能对英文的能变成了一对多,也就不能直接套用,have the ability to do只能表达前面的意思,而不能用来表达电脑具有用来被打字的功能的这个能的这层含义.

经过多方查证：
ability多指做事或完成某项事情的能力，capability与之为同意，不用做区分
capacity指形成一个ability的能力，即偏重潜力，且多指还没有形成对应的ability

与生俱来的东西或某一方面的能力通常用gift表示，而且多表示为这种能力是很难通过逻辑或者后天习得的

talent表示才能多强调某一方面的过人之处，不排除有后天因素的影响
genius表示天才或者天赋异禀，而且通常是描述一个人所具有的多各方面的与众不同，程度最高，基本用于形容达芬奇这样的人。。。
