11、 B,  require是及物动词，所以C不对，of 是介词；D，that后面句子没有谓语，不完整，错；A. 即使不管语义，也应为the examined ruins of.....，所以也错

12、select sb. +职务（称呼）  这种跟双宾语的动词还有：win, earn, give, tell, buy, sell

1, require + gerund?  i have not found it in longman

2, in longman, it says: select sb as + title

i know : elect sb + title

can u give more light?

第二个，关于select查不到确凿证据，但是关于elect的用法，金山词霸里有两个例句：Reagan was elected as the thirty-second President of the United States.
里根被选为美国第三十二任总统。
Mr Charles was elected (the) chairman of the municipal education committee.
查尔斯当选为先生市教育委员会主任委员。

可见，as有没有都可以
