Topic：Some people believe that the Earth is being harmed (damaged) by human activity. Others feel that human activity makes the Earth a better place to live. What is your opinion? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

 

With the rapidly development of human society, human activities affect the Earth more than ever before. Consider both negative and positive factors, human harm the environment by pollution and over spend the resources, while benefit the environment by compensating the damage. To support the negative one or positive one it is a matter of balancing between its pros and cons. From my own perspective, I would rather agree with that human activities have the bad influence on Earth.

 

Firstly, with the exponentially increasing demand of energy and other products caused by development of technology, people spend more and more natural resources included coal, wood, patrol and different kinds of mental. For example, because the producing of patrol take very long time like million years, patrol is always considered as non-reproduced resources. But the consumption of patrol during last 50 years is more than the sum of consumption in human history. Some Scientifics even inferred that the patrol would be exhausted in 50 years. Another good instance is widespread desertification. The reduction of green covered Earth, especially rain forest is huge in these years. The desert even extends to Beijing, the Capital of China and dust storm become common to the citizens.

 

Furthermore, the demand of industry enlarges the pollution and breaks the self-balance and self-fix functions of natural. In past, the pollution generated by human is only rubbish of life which can be easily digested by nature, like food. However, currently the primary sources of pollutions are industrial byproducts of factories included harmful chemical substance, and the emission of harmful gas caused by automobile. They cannot be reduced by natural itself and damage the whole environment of Earth directly.

 

Admittedly, the human activities have the good effect such as restore the forest gradually and research of new energy. But I think these are only the reactions of catastrophic aftermath of the behavior I just indicated, which mainly benefit human themselves. Even a child knows remedy definitely not the essential solution.

 

In a word, the development of human activities mainly damages the environment by consuming overdue natural resource and pollutes harmful substances like gas. Although people begin to make some actions to compensate them, it is far from enough to make Earth a better place to live. I really hope the government and chief leader of every nation could understand it and make relevant policies.

(No one deny that human activities have changed our living shelter – earth, especially during recent hundred years, industrial revolution accelerates the rate of undermining. While appreciating benefits that society development brings, we all common people might ignore a fact that we sacrifice non-renewable environment to acquire living condition improvements. I, fairly reasonably, believe that earth is being damaged by human activity.)
