A uiversity plans to develop a new research center in your country. Some people want a centre for business research. Other people want a centre for agriculture. Which of these two kinds of research centres do you recommend? Use specific reasons. Recently, there has been a heated discussion about what kind of research centre should be built in the university. The large majority of people claimed that an agricultural is optimal while others are opposed to it, they say that agricultural centre brings profit slowly thus a business centre is better. I vote for the first choice for agricultural progress is the essence of economic growth and our country are in urgent need of food. Basic to rapid rise in economy is high agricultural production. We may quote a common example of the USA. During the 19th century, due to widespread use of farming machines, the production of agricultural rise at an enormous rate. As a result of the change, a large mount of labor force were released from heavy physical work on the farm, they swarmed into the cities. This greatly sparked the American’s prossess of urbanization and industrialization, making fantastic increase in economy. After an agricultural research centre is established, we can conduct surveies and develop agricultural technology, in this way a rapid economic progress will be accessible. As a result, an agricultural research centre is a good choice. Meanwhile, a large agricultural country as China is, we are in urgent need of agricultural products. On the one hand, we need the ways to produce more food to feed 1.6 billion people in the country, on the other hand we need sufficient food utilized in international trade to earn money. An agricultural research centre may provide an approach to these needs. So, if a research centre are to be built up, it have to be an agricultural centre. Despite all that have been cited above, construction of agricultural centre has its own drawbacks. Some people quoted that it brings benefits slowly. People have to conduct a great number of experiments before they succeed, like the instance of Yuan Longping, who worked on highly producting crops for ten years to find the right way. Reasonable though the disadvantage is, it cannot compete with the positive points that an agricultural research causes when you take the whole nation’needs into deliberate, and it is people’s needs that should come first. Considering all the factors mentioned above, we may safely arrive at the conclution that an agricultural research centre should be built in the university, though it has its drawbacks. 谢谢了 |
