.Audience: My father who always support me, when I encounter with difficulties; High school students hating physical education course; My son building up his belief. Purpose: To narrate one of the experiences in my physical education course in high school. From this, I learned whatever difficulty I meet with, I should stick to it and do not give up easily. The Change Whenever I look into the past, I can never forget one of the experiences in my physical education course in high school. The belief I learned in that course has become one rule of my current life, which is whatever difficulty I meet with, I should stick to it and do not give up easily. This belief has such an impact on my life that I have to write it down, recording it forever. I did not hate physical education or sports by nature. On the contrary, I liked swimming, basketball, table tennis, and many others in high school. However, I hated long distance running, especially when I could fail in the course if I could not finish one mile within six minutes no matter how excellent I was in other sports. I believe most of us know it is painful. At that time, I just could not understand why long-distance running could be one of the requirements that one student must pass in a physical education course. Every test of one mile running could be a nightmare for me. I tried to follow others, wheezing like an old, tired dog. Everybody especially girls laughed at me. It was an awful experience. I cried to my parents after going home. After comforting me, my dad asked me: “have you tried any way to pass that criterion? Since you cannot change the rules, you have to do something to pass it.” Yeah, he was right and I had to admit the reality. My father awaked me at 5:30 the next morning and led me to the playground. Although reluctantly, I started to jog and run. My father accompanied me and encouraged me not to stop. It was still painful, but I said to myself: “you have tried your best”. This sentence relieved me to some extent and I felt better. After running everyday in the morning for a week, my father wanted to help me count the time, just like a real examination. “It’s fine”, I thought, “nobody laughs at me at least”. My time for the first mile was six and a half minutes. “Oh, good, I am not that behind.” I thought. I gained some strength and even exercised for more time on that particular day. My father continued to go with me everyday. Counting time was a pleasure for me in our early morning exercise because I could see I was improving everyday. After about two weeks, I told me father that he did not need to go with me in the morning since he was busy and tired from his job. My father agreed. So I started to run alone in the morning, which was never a burden for me any more. I even enjoyed running, which was unbelievable from the past. Very soon, the end of the semester came, along with the final scaring long-distance running exam. I was still a little nervous before the exam. However, when the race started, I totally forgot the nervousness and ran with my everyday pace. Not as usual, this time I was not the last. I knew the everyday exercise worked. Nobody laughed at me this time. I even tried to pass a classmate, who I thought was a good runner. I accelerated and left him behind. I could feel that he was surprised. But I knew it was my everyday effort that made me enjoy the feeling of success. After passing one, another classmate became my target. I said to myself: “You can do it as long as you want and pay effort.” Although breathing hard and feeling tired, I managed to pass another person and this strengthened my belief. My final record was five minutes and twenty seconds. My classmates were surprised with my improvement, but I knew my effort was deserved. I appreciate my father from deep heart until now although it seems like a trivia. It is important for me because I learned how to deal with difficulties from this experience. Life is tough, but we can struggle and finally overcome the difficulties and live a happy and meaningful life. Comments: This draft is better!! But there is one area that can be developed further. Tell me what happens as you start running--- are you last @ that point? Then what you think as you approach one classmate—do you hear breathing? Your thought---then move to next person you pass etc. For this one area revise.(this is my teacher’s comment) Want to revise paragraph: Very soon, the end of the semester came, along with the final scaring(ww) long-distance running exam. I was still a little nervous before the exam. However, when the race started, I totally forgot the nervousness and ran with my everyday pace. ( again build this area). I even tried to pass a classmate, who I thought was a good runner. I accelerated and left him behind. I could feel that he was surprised.( you do this here a little build up more) But I knew it was my everyday effort that made me enjoy the feeling of success. After passing one, another classmate became my target. I said to myself: “You can do it as long as you want and pay (put forth) effort.” Although breathing hard and feeling tired, I managed to pass another person and this strengthened my belief. This time, however, I was not the last. I knew the everyday exercise worked. Nobody laughed at me this time. My final record was five minutes and twenty seconds. My classmates were surprised with my improvement, but I knew my effort was deserved. (Feel as you are running. When you pass someone what you are thinking)
